SAP MII is a well know product to provide integration and intelligence capabilities to integrate disparate system in shop floor and also to create plant performance management dashboard for different roles involved in the company. SAP MII is a manufacturing platform which provided modelling capabilities to retrieving the data, writing business logic, visualization data into different charts/controls, integrating data to any system with different standards. One of the key missing feature in MII was a modeling tool to create the dashboard quickly which can be used for IT developer and also by a business person with minimum training. MII Self Service Composition environment was added as part of MII 15.o release providing a HTML5 based design tool to create plant performance management dashboard by simply dragging and dropping different MII content object and configuring it to your need. the tool has been continuously being evolved in 15.1 release also providing a variety of use cases to cover almost all type of visualization capabilities.

Using SSCE, you could create any type of layout and drag any of the MII content i.e. Query template, design template, MDO, KPI, resource files, PIC and UI elements to create any type of dashboard.

SSCE_Snapsot.png

Additionally it provides some of the key features out of box as mentioned below.

  1. Authorization control on the dashboard in terms of who can modify and view the dashboard.
  2. Out of box compatibility for mobile devices.
  3. Ability to do where used of any MII content and PIC to find which dashboard it is being used.
  4. Built in Alert Integration
  5. Uniform time and PIC control from the top of the dashboard
  6. Header/Footer integration
  7. Configuration of events for cross cell integration
  8. Ability to build custom side panel to integrate any other objects into SSCE visualization
  9. Integration of PIC sensor data on a 3D image

Using SSCE, one can create the dashboard of different needs very quickly. Below find some detail how to documents for each of the functionality available in SSCE which could help in quick realization of your needs.

MII prompt user for login

Hello Experts,

We are using single sign on authentication (SPNEGO) through active directory whereby the system grabs the username of the logged in Windows user and defaults that user as authenticated in MII. This is the desired effect for 95% of the cases, however, we need a way to prompt a user for their credentials. I have read the articles about clearing authentication cache: using

document.execCommand("ClearAuthenticationCache"))

however the system just keeps obtaining the user's logged in active directory credentials and does not provide the means to an alternative login.

Does anybody know how to get MII to override this and prompt a user for their credentials? We are also ok to pass in a userid, such as userid=userx if this is a valid method.

Thank you,

Corey

Hi All,

When the SQL Query action is unable to create a connection to database and throwing error, the catch action block is not capturing the error and keeps the transaction running. It logged an error “Cannot create a connection to the database”, but it did NOT throw an action error. We are on 14.0 SP05.

Please if share you suggestion.

this has been already disscussed in the below link

Best connectivity (SOAP or HTTP) to Java only PI system

$

Hi Experts,

We have MII version 15.0 SP03 system and we want to connect to SAP PI (Java only) system for sending xml data.

The HTTP XI action block is failing to connect to PI java HTTP adapter. So for HTTP we are using with generic HTTP post which is connecting successfully.

For Webservice both XI action block and generic SOAP call is connecting successfully.

For receiving data from PI both SOAP and HTTP call is working good.

We wanted to follow a standard Integration pattern, So what will be best connectivity patterns to follow?

Your answers supported with valuable points will be rewarded.

PCo 15.0 and GE Historian 6

Hello everybody ... has anybody been able to use PCo 15.0 and make a success connection to a GE Proficy Historian  version 6.0 ?  The actual version of PCo I have is 15.0.5.2434.

When I am defining the source, I input the server name where Historian resides which is actually where PCo is also installed, and when testing the connection I get the "Cannot Connect" message ... the interesting thing is when I look at the messages in the Historian side, I can see a successful connection in there.

I wonder if this is related to Historian 6.0 been a recently released version and PCo may need to accommodate possible a change in the Historian SDK ?

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Queries regarding SAP MII MDO

$

Hi Experts i want some information on SAP MII MDO, kindle help to reqolve my queries.

My understandings

1. MDO resides on top to MII (queries and transactions)

2. It can stores data in persistent mode

My queries

1. I have created Persistent MDO with data provider as one of the MDo query

2. When i run this persistent MDO bu selecting dataprovider then MDO gives outrput but on selection Cacheddata set it do not have any output

I am not sure about the reason why data is not coming when Cached dataset is chosen, i believe once persisisten MDO is run once data is cached and after that it should run on choosing cached dataset. I have checked log viewer for errors but no errors were found, also on running the MDO it is not giving any error.

Could you please let me know the probable reason for this issue , i am using MII 14.0

How to send IDOCs from SAP MII to SAP ERP

$

Hello, friends!

Once, we faced with objective of implementation SAP MII transaction and managing mechanism to creating correct IDOC and sending it to SAP MDG (this instruction applicable to all SAP ERP systems).

Goal: to implement regularly sending needed data of contractors from non-SAP system to SAP MDG using SAP MII.

At first, we looking for mechanism of sending IDOCs from SAP MII to SAP MDG. After some time of searching we have found RFC IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS at SAP MDG.

IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS

IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS. This function module is used for SAP release 4.0 and later.

This function module starts inbound processing in the case of port type "tRFC". The function module is a successor to INBOUND_IDOC_PROCESS, which processes IDocs in the Release 4.0 record types. If you are processing IDocs in Release 3.X record types, the function module INBOUND_IDOC_PROCESS must still be called.
The function module checks the ID 'EDI_MES' in authorization object B_ALE_RECV against the received message type.
The IDocs are saved by the function module IDOC_INBOUND_WRITE_TO_DB (a COMMIT for all IDocs) and then transferred directly to the application by the dispatcher module IDOC_START_INBOUND.

1. Create a connection in XMII admin menu: Data Services - Connections. Create new JCO connection with any name and description, then correctly set up Server URL, Client number, System number (for default 00) and Pool size (for first time 10 will be sufficient) - refer to Your SAP basis for more details.

create_connection.png

2. Create credentials to using connection from first step at Security Services - Credential Stores. Create new credentials with Name and Password from target system (SAP MDG) to call this RFC function - refer to Your SAP basis for more details.

credential_stores.png

3. Now You can switch to SAP MII Worbench and create new transaction. Main blocks of this transaction will be SAP JCo operations.

sapjco.png

Create some blocks in transaction in the following sequence: SAP JCo Start Session, SAP JCo Function, SAP JCo Commit, SAP JCo End Session.

workbench1.png

SAP JCo Start Session operation opens connection to RFC at SAP MDG with created JCo-connection and Credentials. Simple choose connection from Connection Alias dropdown and credentials from Credential Alias dropdown.

workbench2.png

SAP JCo Function operation directly call RFC at SAP MDG. In SAP JCo Session Action choose created connection from previous block and set at RFC Name name of RFC function (in our case IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS, but You can search needed one from all available from Search Pattern).

workbench3.png

To getting RFC fields make Generate Sample of SAP JCo Function block operation.

workbench301.png

In Links Editor window of SAP JCo Function map RFC fields with data from Your input source.

workbench31.png

SAP JCo Commit operation is commiting send operation from SAP JCo Function - simple choose connection from previous steps.

workbench4.png

SAP JCo End Session is closing created connection with RFC function.

workbench5.png

This is the necessary minimum. Now You can test created transaction.

I hope my guide will be useful.

Hi, colleagues.
I try to POST data (in XML format and string from JSON.stringify()) from UI5 interface to MII. I made decision to use i5Command for this purpose.

But when i try to do it, i meet an error (see pictures). After it i try to send other string entered by hand - it worked good.

Can you help, what's wrong with it? Maybe there are other ways to send data to MII from UI5?

SAP MII 15.0 Installation

Hello friends,

I need to install SAP MII 15.0 SP05.

As per Installation Guide of SAP MII 15.0, I need to install first NW7.4 SP06.

However, here I am facing problem.

Capture.PNG

On Marketplace - swdc, I see only SAP NW 7.4 SR2 DVDs. And SR2, comes with SP08. I don't find SR1 DVDs which can take me to SP05. Can you help me to locate NW 7.4 SR1 DVDs ?

Capture.PNG

Also in SWPM, they have removed "SAP Systems" under NW 7.4 Sr1, which I can use to install new systems. (under SR2, its available)

Capture.PNG

So, Is there a way I can still install SAP NW 7.4 SR1 which will give me SP05 ?

Optionally, Can we install SAP MII 15.0 Sp05 with NW 7.4 SP08 ? (I need a supporting SAP Note for this information)

Hello friends,

I am going to install MII 15.0 SP05. Can you please help me to understand on below Software components which are available to Download under MII.

I wanted to understand which component should be deployed on NW Java application server under which scenario.

Capture.PNG

As per Installation Guide of MII 15, I understand XMII 15.0 and MII_ADMIN 15.0 are required for MII 15.0.

Capture.PNG

Please correct me If I am wrong : MGF_MII_CONTENT_15.0 component can be deployed on MII15.0 (after deployment of XMII + MII_ADMIN) ?

And OEE_ERP_INTERFACE 15.0 on ERP system ?

What about remaining MII_BUILDT 15.0 and XMII_MIGRATION_TOOL 15.0 components, when they should be Deployed ?

Also, SAP Note 2146857 mention to Deploy XMII_MIGRATION_Tool 15.0 component along with XMII & MIIADMIN, But Not the Installtion Guide ? Which one should be followed ?
